They gave the dimensions of 4 feet on the high end, 32 feet long. It is constructed of 3/4 inch pine and 1/2 and 3/4 inch plywood.
The tracks range from $119.00 to $199.00. Shipping and handling is extra. If you want to call and talk to them their number is: 931-935-8201. To order the racers the number is: 972-298-7119.

Subject: Lad program

I am trying to start a new RA program in my church. We are starting with the Lad program and working our way up. I was wondering if you could send me a list of all the books and resources I will need to start a LAD program. I need everything from books the Lads need to whatever else my leaders and I may need.

Thank You,
Matthew Gore
LAD teacher
Good Shehard Baptist Church

Matthew:

I got your e-mail and I am impressed with the way your are starting R.A.'s. --- Lads first and then going to Crusaders, later. Good idea!!!
To begin with, keep it simple and start with the basics. The basics for the Lads are the Lad Magazines, the Lad 1, 2, and 3 advancement books. For you and your leaders, you will need to get Lad Leader Magazines, a copy of the Leader Edition Lad 1,2, and 3 Advancement Books, the 2002-2003 Planbook, 2002-2003 resource kit, and a copy of the 2002-2003 NAMB Resource Catolog to order your materials. You will need to call 1-800-448-8032 to order these materials, now, and others you will need later. There's more material that is there to do the program, but that's more to learn in a short period of time. The less you have to start with, the less confusing it will be for you to get started. There's alot of material out there, but you don't need it all at once.
When you get the material, study it and get familiar with it before you hand it over to the boys to start working in. Oh, when you call to order, the customer service rep. will ask you for an account number of your church. If you don't have it, give them the address of the church and they will look it up and you will be able to order that way. Make sure your church knows your intentions.
Ask the church staff to get the number to your local association office so you be able to let them know you are starting R.A.'s in your church and they will offer assistance where it's needed. And also, your association office will have events for you and your boys can participate in during the year. Also, that is a way for you to meet other leaders in your association and find out some of the short cuts and simple ways that work for the seasoned experts that have been at it for a while.
Another thing to do is to ask your church staff for the number of the state convention office you can contact to register your Lad chapter and get on their mailing list. Doing this will keep you informed on events they will doing for you.
The two important areas of involvement that help makes a R.A. program go farther are the association (local) and state levels.
After the Lad program is started and well on its way, don't forget to start the Crusader within a reasonable period of time. (If you can) Make sure to have the leaders trained, prepared, and ready for the Crusaders.
Last thing---it would be advisable to set up a training session for you and leaders to get started on the right track and on the same page. This will eliminate mis-understanding and frustration, later. The best resource(s) to pull from is the association office or the state office. They are ready and available to conduct the training session.
Let me know how things are going after you get started.

Subject: Searching for "Brotherhood Campcraft" Book

A few months ago I was in a Christian Bookstore and bought the "Crusader
Campcraft Workbook" for my son. We are missionaries in Mexcio, and I
won't
be returning to the U.S. until April. I realized when I got home that to
use this book you also need the "Brotherhood Campcraft" Book. I looked
through your Web site and couldn't find any place to order Royal
Ambassador
materials.
I would pay by credit card and have the book sent to a U.S.
address as someone on our team will be going to the U.S.next week. Thanks
so much, Kay Pribyl

Kay:

I got your e-mail about the campcraft problem you are having. You can fax your order and get that Brotherhood Campcraft book to help you all. The number is 1-615-251-5983. I hope this will help.
Also, I would like to put something on the website about your husband and your mission work on the mission field. And if you have any information about R.A.'s in Mexico could you send information or have a R.A. Director send me information about their chapters.

Thanks for your e-mail

Subject: RA vest

Hello,

Please advise where I can order vests, pins, patches etc. for my boys. Thanks for your help.

Glen Patterson
Woodland Place Baptist Church
Magnolia, Texas

Glen:

You can order your vests through Lifeway. Call 1-800-448-8032. They will ask for the church account---it's good if you have it. If you don't have it, give the church address, they'll take that. When you order your vests, start with the size of YOUTH SMALL (for the Lads), YOUTH MEDIUM (for the Crusaders), and XLARGE for the Adults. Do not order any child sizes, because they are way to small , they'll fit the Ken and Barbie dolls, and infants.
That will get you started.

Enjoy!

Subject: RA QUESTION!!

Hi,
This is my first year in doing RA's. We have boys from Grades 1--3. My question is, if a child is in Grade 3, he is to be a Lad 3. However, if the child has not earned Lad 1 and Lad 2, should we start with Lad 1 with everyone. This is our first year in working on the advancements and patches. Where should I start?

Thanks for the information.

William and Jeanie Bernicki
Bill and Jeanie:

When a boy comes into R.A.'s and is in the third grade, you put him into Lad 3's and start from there. Each of the Lad and Crusader materials are written to match the comprehension of that age it is written for. The degree of difficulty is also matched with each of the grade levels.
in other words, when a student is promoted from one grade to another grade and is transferred to another school in a different area, he goes to the grade he was promoted into the next grade the other school recommends, he doesn't start over, again. That is about the easiest way to look at it. I appreciate the question and it is one that is needed to be asked and is hardly asked. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Keep it simple since you are getting started. Recommended material to start with: 2002-2003 Planbook, Lad and Crusader Magazines, Lad and Crusader Leader Magazines. Thanks for the e-mail.

Is there a specific placement on the RA vest for patches?

If so, what are the placements?

Stephanie in GA

Jamie:
If you look in front of the Lad and Crusader Advancement books, there is an illustration of how to arrange the patches.

I hope that helps you.

Subject: RA dress code

Is there a certain dress code that the Royal Ambassadors go by?

We are starting a group and wanted to go with the uniform. We wanted to use a white or blue beret with a 1" RA emblem patch.

Thanks

Mackie Ruff

Mackie:

There is no standard dress code. But, I would think the boys would like it. Since you are thinking of a beret, go for a Royal Blue, it hides the dirt stains, sweat stains, and any other stains that seem to find boys. If you want to have a white beret, use that for special occasions like recognition ceremonies and so on.

The uniform sounds cool. Run with it! Remember, it isn't required uniform. Thanks for the e-mail.

Linda:

There is a campout patch that he earns going on a campout that has no teaching of any kind. It show he participated in a campout function. The appearance is a light green and has a tent on it and says "Campout". Now, there are campcraft patches that can be earned in the advancement program in R.A.'s---that takes about 3 to 6 months to earn. Get with your R.A. Director and tell him your sons gets his campout patch. Hope that helps
