Have you ever gone on a picnic? Do you know how many things it takes to make a
picnic work? What things do you take? What things do you not take? Think of what
would is needed to take on a picnic.

When you camp outside a lot, you need to take care of thing you use. You need
things to cook on and sleep in that will keep you warm and dry. They are the
same things you have at home. You will see what you have at home that you use
when you camp out when you finish this section of your campcraft workbook.

Rope is used for a lot of things. It is used to keep things together and hold
things in place. There are all kinds of knots. These knots do different
things. When you do this section of campcraft, you will learn to tie your shoe.

There are different tools you use while you camp out. One tool is a
flashlight. A flashlight is very important using at night to see your way
around. You will see the different parts that make a flashlight. And you will
learn how to take care of a flashlight.

Fire can be very helpful to people. It help you cook food, keep you warm, and
make an area light up in the night. But, sometimes a fire can destroy things.
You will learn how to keep safe and call for help if you are in a fire.

Cooking is a part of camping out. It takes everyone to work together to have a
great meal. Taking a part in helping is the most important part of fixing a
meal. You will learn what you can do to help out fixing a meal outside.

|
People can get hurt. Sometimes people get hurt by getting cut . Do you know
how to take care of a cut by using "First-Aid"? You will find how to use first
when someone gets cut.

Keeping clean and healthy is part of the Royal Ambassador Pledge. Also, keeping
clean and healthy will keep you from getting sick. You will learn how to stay
clean and healthy at home for the next three weeks.

Maps shows help us find out where to go. A compass tells the direction we are
going. To tell us where we live, we have got to know the name of our street,
house number, the name of our city or town, and the zip code. This section
will help us learn these things.

There is a lot more nature in the forest. There is nature where you live. There
are a lot of things that live in nature. Go on a walk with your parents or an
adult to see if you can find the different kind of animals in nature.

|
God has given us a lot of things to take care of. He gave us the outdoors to
take care of. We can not waste nature and things we have. For the next three
weeks we are going to learn to turn off the lights in our bedroom and show we
can conserve on the power we use. If we leave the lights on all the time, we
will harm nature.

Do you know what things look like that God created? You will have a chance to
draw three things God made. Don't get them mixed up with things man has made.
When you see what God has made thank him and worship him because he is the only
that can make nature.
